Kevin Cato is the director of Mt. Eden High School's Wind Ensemble and Wind Symphony, and Martin Luther King Middle School's Concert Band and Orchestra. Mr. Cato holds a BA in Music and Minor in Dance from CSUEB and a MFA in Dance and Choreography from Mills College.
Kevin's composition, Origins, A Look to the Stars was published after taking top honors at Invitational National Music Festival of Gold at Davies Symphony Hall. In addition to being an accomplished composer, he is also a singer/song writer, costume designer, sound engineer that serves as the artistic director for Dreamscape Arts, a non-profit performing arts group.
Along with adjudicating for the Northern California Band Directors Association he serves as a Host and auditions brass for the Music for All's National Honor Band of America.
Musically, Kevin has been recognized by Who's Who among America's Teachers, featured on Comcast Bay Area News, Channel 7 News, Berkeley News, NPR, honored by the 91st Army Reserve Band and the Mayor of San Ramon, receiving the Gold Coin of Service from the Sergeant Major of the United States Army School of Music, the first civilian to receive such an honor. Lastly, Kevin received the 2013 Alameda County Arts Leadership Awards.
